SEO FOR TRADIES Local SEO for tradies. More jobs.
SEO for tradies is not the same job as SEO for a shop. Nobody searches your business name. They search a trade and a suburb, usually at the moment something has gone wrong, and they ring the first result that looks like it covers where they live. Every one of those searches is a job going to somebody.
You are on the tools when they search, so the site has to answer. Nobody rings the second result. They ring the first one that services their suburb, and by smoko that job has already been quoted by someone else.
One trade.Every suburb.
Almost nobody types electrician on its own. They type a trade plus a suburb, and often a problem with it: emergency electrician Charlestown, hot water repair Cardiff, switchboard upgrade Merewether. Every one of those is a separate search with its own results page, and a single page headed Areas We Service listing twenty suburbs in a sentence ranks for none of them.
So the site gets one page per trade and location worth the work. Thirty of them on a Growth build, fifty on an Authority build, each written for one search and one job type rather than padded out with the same paragraph and a different suburb name dropped into it. That is the difference between suburb pages that rank and the doorway pages Google has been filtering out for a decade.
Above the ranked links sits the map pack, and for a trade it is usually the bigger of the two. It runs off your Google Business Profile rather than your website, so the two have to say the same thing: same business name, same phone number, same service area, same categories. We match the schema on every page of the site to the profile, so Google reads one business instead of two that look similar.
Trade searches are three words long and one of them is almost always a place. That single fact decides how the whole site gets built.
Five steps.Then the phone.
Step two is the one that gets skipped, and it is the one that decides whether the rest was worth doing. Every trade has suburbs the local competition never bothered to build a page for.
The same five steps run on every build, Starter through to Authority. What changes is how many trade and suburb combinations the map covers, not the method. See the full web design process.
Trade and suburb map
every job, every areaEvery service you sell, crossed against every suburb you will drive to, with the search volume beside it. What comes out is a list of the pages worth building, in order, and a shorter list of the ones that would be a waste of your money.
Competitor audit
who owns which suburbThe local mob ranking above you is rarely strong everywhere. We find the suburbs and job types they never built a page for, because that is where a new site gets its first calls instead of waiting eighteen months for a fair fight.
On-page build
one page, one searchMeta title, H1, headings and body copy aligned to a single trade and suburb search on every page, with your licence number, your service area and a tappable phone number where someone holding a phone can actually reach it.
Profile and schema
the map packJSON-LD on every page carrying your name, address, phone, trade and hours, matched to your Google Business Profile so the two agree. For most trades the map pack sends more calls than the blue links underneath it.
Search Console
counted, not claimedConnected and the sitemap submitted on launch day. You see which suburbs started ranking and which searches brought the calls, in your own account, from the first week.
The Starter
$1,800
Keyword research across your trade and your main suburbs, on-page SEO, schema and Google Business Profile alignment on 3 to 5 pages. The right start for a one-van operation.
The Growth
From $3,500
Everything in the Starter, plus 30 pages built one per trade and suburb search, which covers a business working across a whole city.
The Authority
Book a call
50 trade and suburb pages across every service you sell and every area you drive to, plus an ongoing SEO strategy review session. Built for a business running several crews.
SEO is included in every package at no extra charge. After launch we keep the site running on a monthly support plan, and any build can run on any plan. See what every package includes.
What people ask before they book.
Yes, and usually faster than it does for other industries, because trade searches are local and local searches are far less competitive than national ones. Ranking for electrician across Australia is close to impossible. Ranking for electrician plus a specific suburb is realistic for a new site inside a few months, and that second search is the one that turns into a phone call. The whole method is to stop chasing the first search and build for the second.
At Newcastle Web Co it is included in the build price rather than charged separately. A Starter site is $1,800 fixed and includes keyword research, on-page SEO, schema and Google Business Profile alignment. The Growth build is from $3,500 and adds 30 trade and suburb pages. Australian SEO agencies typically charge $800 to $2,500 a month on top of a website, which is the model we are deliberately not running.
On-page work can move local rankings inside 30 to 90 days. Suburb pages build more slowly because they start with no authority, so most trades see steady movement from around 60 to 90 days and meaningful call volume from three to six months. A well set up Google Business Profile often produces calls sooner than the website does. Anyone promising you page one in a fortnight is guessing.
They do different jobs. Lead platforms are leads you rent: you pay per lead, you are quoted against three other trades on price, and it stops the day you stop paying. Ranking is a lead source you own, the customer found you rather than a list, and there is no fee per job. Most trades run both for a while and shift the spend across as the rankings come up. We would not tell you to switch the platforms off on launch day.
Word of mouth still ends in a search. Someone gets your name from a mate, types it into Google, and decides in about four seconds based on what comes back. If nothing comes back, or what comes back is a Facebook page last posted to in 2019, that referral is now comparing you with whoever does rank. The site is not there to replace word of mouth. It is there to stop it leaking.
Tell us the trade, the suburbs you cover and the jobs you actually want more of, and we will put together a fixed-price quote with the pages worth building listed in order. No obligation, and no hard sell.
